On April 23, 2025, the 2025 Membership Conference of the Smart Terminal Microelectronics Association (ITMA) ended successfully at the Westin Hotel in Nanjing. The meeting was held in a combination of online and offline mode, and representatives of the association's member units attended the meeting on-site and online respectively. This membership conference focused on the implementation of ITMA technical standards, deepening of ecological cooperation and upgrading of management procedures, and reviewed and approved a number of key issues, clarified future development paths, and determined a number of key work plans.
The meeting reviewed the association's remarkable achievements in the previous year, completed organizational name change and business structure optimization, established an iTAP technical standards and testing working group, and successfully released the iTAP white paper that caused heated discussion in the industry. Now the release of iTAP new technical standards has entered the sprint stage. The meeting also passed a number of key resolutions covering the acceptance of audit reports, approval of the next year's budget, updating management procedures, adopting new intellectual property policies (IPRs), and promoting cooperation planning with the International Standards Organization, providing solid guarantees for the future development of the association.
Looking to the future, the association lists testing work as its core focus, especially the development of testing equipment and tools. Testing is a key link in ensuring the reliability, stability and compatibility of iTAP technology. The association plans to complete the development and verification of iTAP testing beds and tools in May, be the first to implement iTAP protocol consistency testing, and complete the development of access layer test cases. In the future, testing equipment and tools will be continuously improved so that they can fully support application-level test cases such as access control, payment, and tickets, laying a solid foundation for iTAP technology to move from laboratory to large-scale commercial use. In order to promote this work, the association has promoted the joining plan of leading enterprises in a layered manner according to the industry, and will actively carry out communication and negotiation for relevant test equipment manufacturers in the iTAP industry to attract high-quality enterprises to join the association, and use the power of all parties to accelerate the research and development process of testing equipment and tools.
In terms of standard construction, we will clarify the release time of the iTAP access layer standard and iTAP application layer standard, and plan to hold an industry summit to display the results in Q4 this year, and strive to promote the improvement and implementation of technical standards. The application of iTAP technology standards will focus on digital payment, smart transportation, digital tickets, smart community management, smart campus, smart elderly care and other scenarios, actively create benchmarks for iTAP technology application, gradually promote it, and build a complete industrial ecosystem.
At the same time, the association will strengthen cooperation with international standards organizations, accelerate the internationalization of iTAP technical standards, and actively promote the international application of iTAP technical standards.
The key tasks clearly defined by the ITMA Association at this meeting closely focus on the needs of industry development, from standard setting, industrial application to ecological construction, make all-round layout, actively promote industrial innovation and development, create more value for the industry, and lead the industry to make great strides towards higher quality and more international competitiveness.
